Ipê-amarelo in Bloom

I found this recipe by Armando Erotico in the Ministry of Rum group on Facebook, and thought it sounded exotic…

I am always interested in cocktails that people create with different spirits, so I thought I would share a recent simple and yet complexly flavored one of my own…

The “Ipê-amarelo in Bloom”.

Reminiscent of a rhum agricole, this cocktail utilizes the smooth vegetal flavor profile of Novo Fogo Cachaça, a spicy vibrant golden Brazilian Pepper Flower Honey simple, and Bittercube Cherry Bark Vanilla bitters to synthesize the mixture with its warm vanilla and bitter cherry notes.

I wanted to find a spirit to match up with my intensely golden homemade Brazilian Pepper Flower Honey simple (2 parts honey to 1 part water), and determined to make a 3 ingredient cocktail I wanted a complex rhum agricole flavor profile in a clear spirit, and so the Novo Fogo Silver was an obvious choice.

The name is inspired by the Brazilian National Flower the Ipê-amarelo, which is also bright golden in bloom.

Ingredients:

2 ounces Novo Fogo Cachaça Silver
0.75 ounces Brazilian Pepper Flower Honey simple
4 dashes Bittercube Cherry Bark Vanilla Bitters

Method:

This is as easy and quick as they come.

For a single serve, build the cocktail in a chilled coupe/martini by quickly stirring the Novo Fogo Cachaça and Brazilian Pepper Flower Honey simple and add a medium square cube, finishing with 4 drops of Bittercube Cherry Bark Vanilla bitters dropped on top.

Garnish with the flower itself if you are in SE Florida and have it growing wild in the yard, or with a candied citrus channeled strip.

If you can’t be safe, at least have fun, cheers!
