Beer from an ancient grain, fermented in 50 year old barrels

Michigan favorite Bell’s Brewing Co. has started brewing a English-style Extra Special Bitter beer, using a semi-retired malt variety, Chevallier, that was popular during the 19th Century in England.  The beer is fermented in wooden tanks originally used by Stroh Brewing Co. in Detroit more than 50 years ago.

When you drink this stuff, you truly are drinking history in a glass.
