There’s a controversy over the origin of the Beachcomber cocktail, which allegedly traces its history back to one of two places. Either, it was first served in the 1930s at the site of the first Don Beachcombers restaurant in Hollywood, CA, owned by the restauranteur who would expand the Don the Beachcomber chain across the country. Or the drink was invented in the 1950s at the Caribe Hilton’s Beachcomber Bar in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
